If you’re like most drivers, you’ve probably checked the oil, rotated the tires, and replaced the air filter on your car at least once. But have you checked the ignition coil? Here’s how to do it.
What is the Ignition Coil?
The ignition coil is a small, cylindrical device located near the spark plugs in an engine. It helps to start the engine by providing a short, high-voltage spark to ignite the fuel mixture. If the ignition coil fails, the engine will not start.
How to Check Ignition Coil on Car
If you have a car with an ignition coil, it’s important to check it periodically. This is especially true if you have a car that’s been sitting for a while. Ignition coils can go bad, which can cause your car to not start. Additionally, a bad ignition coil can also cause other problems with your car. If you notice that your car isn’t starting well or is having other issues, it’s important to check your ignition coil. Here are five steps on how to do this:
1. Pull off the hood of your car and find the fuse box. There will usually be two fuses in this box, one for the headlights and one for the engine. Remove these two fuses and place them somewhere safe.
2. Unplug the battery connector from the spark plugs. This is located behind the spark plugs on the engine block (see image below).
3. Disconnect both battery cables from the battery. Again, this is located behind the spark plugs on the engine block (see image below).
4. You’ll need to remove the four screws that hold down the ignition coil cover (see image below). Once this cover is removed, you’ll be able to see the ignition coil (see
