If you’ve ever had to jump start a car, you know it can be a tricky process. With the gas pedal floored and the engine off, you have to find the right wire – and sometimes it’s hidden behind insulation or under something else. If you’re not careful, you could end up damaging your car or yourself. Here are four easy tips for jump starting a car with electronic ignition.
What You’ll Need
Before you can jump start a car with electronic ignition, you’ll need the following:
-A battery.
-An electronic starter.
-A charging cord for the battery.
-A tow truck or someone with a tow truck.
How To Jump Start A Car With Electronic Ignition
1. Make sure your car is turned off and the keys are out of the ignition.
2. Make sure your battery is fully charged by connecting your charging cord to the battery and plugging it into an outlet.
3. Install your electronic starter in your car by screwing it into the positive (+) terminal on your battery and screwing the negative (-) terminal onto your car’s electrical system.
4. Turn on your car’s electrical system by turning the key in the ignition and waiting for it to turn on (usually takes about two minutes).
5. Touch the button on your electronic starter to start your car.
The Process
If your car won’t start, there’s a good chance that the battery is dead. Ignition systems in cars use electronic ignition (EI) to start the engine. EI systems use a number of different methods to start the engine, but the two most common are using an electric current and using a spark.
When you turn the key to the “on” position, the EI system sends a current through the coil of wire that is connected to the spark plug. This causes a spark to occur and ignite the fuel in the cylinder. If your car has an EI system with computer-controlled distributor, this current will also cause your lights to come on.
If your car doesn’t have an EI system, or if it doesn’t work properly, you can try starting it with a manual starter. Check to make sure all of the cables are plugged in and make sure that the battery is charged. Push down on the clutch pedal until you feel resistance and then release it. Hold down the starter button for about two seconds until you hear a click. Turn the key to “start” and then release it. The car should start quickly.
Tips For Success
There are a few things you can do to help get your car started in the cold weather.
1. Use a battery jump starter. This will give your car some juice so it can start.
2. Push down on the gas pedal as hard as you can. This will help force the engine to turn over.
3. Turn the key all the way to the off position and wait about 10 seconds. Then turn the key back to the on position and try to start the car.
4. If you still can’t start the car, try running some jumper cables between two cars and connect them to your car’s battery.
