Required Tools
Required Tools:
-A sockets wrench (3/8″) or a ratchet with a 3/8″ drive
-Pliers
-Wire brush
-Fine steel wool or sandpaper
-New spark plug terminals (or an old pair of terminals from your car)
-High temperatures soldering iron and solder
The following tools are not necessary, but will make the job much easier:
-An ease tool to remove the rotor from the stator (such as an impact gun)
-A magnet (for finding the stator)
Instructions: 1. On a motorcycle with a carburetor, remove the air filter and throttle cable. On an internally combustion engine bike, unscrew the cover over the motor. There should be four bolts that hold it on. 2. Disconnect all electrical connections to the bike. 3. Use your sockets wrench to remove the four bolts that hold on the motor cover. 4. Carefully peel off the cover and set it aside. 5. With pliers, remove any wire insulation from around each spark plug wire leading from the coil(s). 6. If you have an easy tool for removing rotors such as an impact gun
Motorcycle Ignition Installation
Motorcycle ignition installation can be a little more difficult than car ignition installation, but with the right tools and techniques, it can still be done relatively easily. Before starting the motorcycle engine, make sure all of the appropriate safety precautions are taken, such as verifying that the motorcycle is properly grounded.
Most motorcycles use a three-pin electrical system to start the engine. To install the motorcycle ignition, you’ll need to remove the battery cover and locate the three wires that connect to the starter motor. The black wire is usually connected to ground, while the red and white wires are connected to +12 volts and +5 volts respectively. Make note of how these wires are connected and match them up when installing the new ignition.
To install the motorcycle ignition, first disconnect both ends of each wire from their respective connectors on the starter motor. Next, insert each wire into one of two connector blocks on either side of the motor. Finally, reconnect each end of each wire to its respective connector on the starter motor. Be sure not to pinch any of these wires when connecting them! Once everything is installed correctly, test your motorcycle’s starting procedure by touching each wire to ground before turning on your engine.
Motorcycle Ignition Removal
If your motorcycle has an ignition, it can be removed and replaced with a Car Key Ignition. This guide will show you how to remove the motorcycle ignition, and replace it with a Car Key Ignition.
Tools Required: Flat head screwdriver, socket wrench, wire brush
1. Start by removing the battery cover on the motorcycle. Use a flat head screwdriver to pry up on the lip around the perimeter of the cover. Once it’s loose enough, use a socket wrench to unscrew it. There is one torx screw holding it in place and another hidden underneath. Once it’s off, you can discard it.
2. Next, you need to remove the handlebar stem nut by loosening all of the bolts that are circled in red below:

3.Now take your socket wrench and undo each bolt one at a time until the stem nut falls off (it should now just hang by threads):

5. You now have two options: You can either install a new car
Car Ignition Installation
Installing a car ignition on a motorcycle can be a daunting task for the novice mechanic. However, with the proper tools and instructions, it can be a fairly simple process.
The first step is to remove the old ignition system. This may require removing the hood and front fenders of the bike. Once the old system is removed, it can be cleaned and inspected for damages. If there are any repairs or modifications that need to be made, they will need to be taken into account during installation.
Next, install new spark plugs and wires into the engine block. Make sure all connections are secure using loctite or equivalent sealant. Finally, install the new car ignition system onto the engine block using bolts and washers. Test everything out by starting the engine and engaging all gears. If everything looks good, go ahead and finish installing the rest of the components on the bike.
