Installation of the Graco base car seat
Installing a base car seat is important in ensuring the safety of your infant. Some people may find installing the Graco base car seat difficult while others may find it easy. The following instructions will help you install the Graco base car seat.
To begin, remove the infant carrier from the vehicle. If you have an infant carrier that uses LATCH, detach the LATCH connector and set it aside. If you have a traditional style carrier, simply remove it from the vehicle.
Once your infant carrier is removed, locate and unclip the base of the car seat from the vehicle:
1) Open the front door of your vehicle as far as it will go.
2) From inside your vehicle, reach up and gently grasp one side of the car seat’s base.
3) Gently pull up on the base to unclip it from your vehicle.
4) Carefully lift and place your car seat onto a flat surface away from any moving parts. Be sure to orient it so that you can see and access all of its straps and connectors before closing / re-attaching its cover. (See illustration below.)

Tightening of the base bolts
Infant car seats come with base installation instructions that tell you how to tighten the bolts that secure the seat to the vehicle. 1. Start by loosening the bolt on one end of the seat and then turning it until it’s just finger-tight. Repeat on the other side.
2. Use a Phillips screwdriver to tighten each bolt in one direction only—don’t overdo it! You should be able to turn the screwdriver easily but not feel any resistance. If you can’t get the screwdriver all the way around, try using a wrench.
3. Make sure each bolt is tight before moving onto the next one. If you find that any of them are still loose after tightening all of them, go back and re-tighten them until they’re secure.
Installation of the child support bar
Step 1: Location
Before starting, you will need to locate your car’s centerconsole. You can find it by looking at the dashboard or by removing the center console cover. The Graco installation instructions assume that you have located the base in Step 2 below.
Step 2: Installation
To install the car seat, first remove all of the existing hardware and then attach the new base to the car using the included bolts and washers.
