Kids grow up so fast! One day they’re crawling and the next they’re trying to sit up in a car seat. And because Graco car seats are designed for children frombirth up to 45 pounds, it can be challenging to keep them securely in place. Fortunately, attaching a seat to a Graco car seat is a relatively easy task that even the most novice carseat installer can complete. In this blog post, we will show you how to attach a Graco seat after washing it.
Tools you will need
You will need:
-A screwdriver
-A drill with a bit that is the same size as the screws on the car seat
-A drill bit that is at least 1 inch in diameter
-An adjustable wrench
-Screws of the same size as those used on the car seat
-A drill bit that is at least 1 inch in diameter
-Tape measure
1. Remove the front clip from the car seat. The front clip can be removed by gently pulling it off of the safety belt webbing. Be careful not to lose the spring piece! Note: Some models may have a different way of removing the front clip. Please consult your car’s owner’s manual for more information.
2. Mark where each screw goes on the car seat using a pencil or a marker. Use your measurements from step 1 to mark each screw hole on your car seat. You will need to screw these screws into place after drilling them out!

Preparing the seat
So you’ve completed the arduous task of caring for your new Graco car seat, now it’s time to attach it to your vehicle! There are a few things you’ll need before starting:
-A Phillips screwdriver
-An adjustable wrench or an adapter that will fit a 3/8″ wrench
-The car seat (not the base)
1. Detach the lower anchor from the base of the car seat. This can be done by pulling up on one side of the strap until it releases from the buckle and then pulling off. If you have an adjustable wrench, tighten the belt by turning it counterclockwise with your fingers until it is snug against your child’s body (the belt should be at or below their armpits). If you don’t have an adjustable wrench, you can use a 3/8″ wrench to tighten both straps equally. Make sure that there is enough slack in each strap so that when reattached, there will still be enough room for your child to move around in their car seat.
2. Attach one end of the strap to one side of the lower anchor on the car seat and pull tight. Do not over-tighten as this could cause damage to either component. Be sure also to crosscheck that your child’s weight is evenly distributed across both straps while they are seated in order to ensure safety.

Attaching the seat
After your Graco car seat has been washed, it is important to attach the seat in the correct way in order for it to be safe and secure. Follow these easy steps:
1) Align the shoulder belt guides on each side of the seat with the grooves on the sides of the car seat.
2) Insert one end of the belt into one of the guide slots, then thread it through the hole in the car seat and pull tight. Do not cross over or twist belt straps.
3) Repeat step 2 with other end of belt.
4) Make sure child is sitting correctly in car seat and adjust belts if necessary.
Cleaning the seat
If you have a Graco car seat that was washed and then removed from the machine, there is a chance that the seat will not attach correctly. This is because the Velcro straps that secure the car seat to the base will be wet and sticky. There are two methods for attaching your car seat after it has been washed: using adhesive strips or using screws.
Applying adhesive strips: To attach your car seat using adhesive strips, first remove all of the padding from the inside of the car seat. Then, cut four 2-inch-wide strips of adhesive tape and place one strip on each side of the center front strap rail. Press down firmly to adhere. Repeat this process on the back and bottom sides of the car seat.
Screwing your car seat to the base: If you want to use screws to attach your car seat, first remove any excess adhesive tape with a knife. Then, unscrew both legs of the base until they are free from each other. Next, screw one leg of the base onto one end of thecar Seat while keeping the other leg free so you can move it around as needed.
