1. Lay the fabric out on a flat surface and measure the width of your car seat. Cut the fabric to this dimensions.
2. Cut two strips of fabric about 2 inches wide by the length of your car seat. These will be the front and back paneling of your poncho. Note: You can make these strips any length you like, but for ease of sewing, I suggest making them about twice as long as your car seat.
3. On one end of each strip, fold one corner in towards itself to form an 8 inch square. Press down firmly so that it’s nice and tight. Repeat on the other end of each strip. You now have four identical squares of fabric.
4. Pin one square onto each side of the bottom half of your car choo’ so that they form a “X” shape. Sew around each edge using a 1/2 inch seam allowance, leaving a small opening along one side so that you can turn it right side out later (see image below). Do not sew through the “X” formation! You’ll need to turn it right side out later using a finger or some kind of turning tool (I used a chopstick).
