I believe that Jack cared about Angel. Whether or not he loved her is a different story, but I think that he was at least somewhat fond of her. There were definitely moments where it seemed as though Jack could have been much better for her, but I also think that she had some great qualities for someone like him. Ultimately, the ending to Season 1 left me feeling rather ambiguous about their relationship and whether or not either of them will be back for Season 2.
