How to Close Hood of Car

Are you having trouble getting your car’s hood closed? If so, it might be because you’re not applying enough pressure when you’re trying to close it. In this article, we’ll show you how to apply the right amount of force when closing the hood of your car.

Unhook the battery

If you’re ever in a situation where you can’t get the hood open, try unplugging the battery. This will stop the car from turning over, and hopefully you’ll be able to get the hood open from there.

Open the hood

1. Park the car in a safe place with the emergency brake on.
2. Open the hood.
3. Shut off the engine by pressing the switch on the dash.
4. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
5. Remove any objects in the way, such as rocks or branches.
6. Lift up and remove the hoodliner (if there is one).
7. Detach the fan belt by slipping it over the pulley and pulling it away from the motor.
8. Detach the air cleaner assembly by pushing down on its flange and pulling it away from the motor housing.
9. Detach any hoses that run to or from the motor, using a pair of pliers if necessary.
10. Carefully pull out the motor unit by grasping its base and lifting it free of its mounting bracket. Be sure to disconnect all of its hoses and wires before removing it, in order to avoid potential damage to them.

Slide the latch on the left side of the hood forward

Reach behind the car and grasp the top of the hood and pull it closed
Check to make sure the hood is closed properly by looking inside at the windshield.

Lift up the hood so that it is clear of the car body

1. Get a stick or broom to help prop open the front bumper
2. Lean the car against a solid object and use the stick or broom to nudge the hood closed
3. Push down on the hood to ensure it is properly closed

Reach into the space between the hood and car body and press down on the release lever until it snaps into place

This will keep the hood from closing on your head in an accident.

Close the hood

When you are driving, always be aware of your surroundings and be sure to close the hood of your car when you park. This will help prevent any possible damage to the car or other drivers.
