If you’re having trouble stopping your motorcycle on a steep hill, you might want to try flushing the brake system. This is a simple procedure that can help you fix the problem and get back on the road. Here’s how to do it.
What You’ll Need
To flush a motorcycle brake system with dual calipers, you’ll need the following:
-A garden hose or similar sized water hose
-A wrench to fit the caliper bolt
-A bucket or container to hold the water
-Clean rags to dry the system off after flushing
Step 1: Park your motorcycle safely and turn it off.
Step 2: Remove the front wheel. The brake fluid reservoir and lines are located behind the wheel.
Step 3: Loosen the caliper bolts by turning them counterclockwise with a wrench. Do not remove them completely.
Step 4: Connect the garden hose to the bleeder valve on the side of the brake system reservoir. Turn on the water and wait until it starts coming out of the bleeder valve in a steady stream. Turn off the water when it stops coming out of the bleeder valve.
Step 5: disconnect the brake line from the caliper. Take care not to kink it while doing so.
Step 6: Firmly hold onto both ends of the line and pull sharply on it, simultaneously pushing down on both calipers with your other hand. Be sure to hold
How to Flush a Motorcycle Brake System
Motorcycle brake systems can become clogged with debris and oil over time. This can cause the braking system to malfunction or even fail altogether. If this happens, you’ll need to flush the system to restore performance.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Remove the front wheel of your motorcycle. The brake caliper must be removed in order to flush the system.
2. Remove the brake line from the caliper. It may be a tight fit, so use a wrench to loosen it.
3. Pour a pot of hot water into the caliper and wait until it reaches boiling point. Remove the caliper from the bike and submerge it in the hot water. The heat will help break down any built-up debris and oils.
4. Allow the caliper to soak for 30 minutes, then remove it and dry it off thoroughly before reinstalling on the bike. Tighten all mounting bolts before re-using the line.
