How To Get Stuck Car Key Out Of Ignition

If you ever find yourself stuck in your car with the key out, follow these steps to get it out of the ignition.

Knead the key a few times

If you find that your car key is getting stuck in the ignition, there are a few things you can do to try and get it out. One option is to try and kneed the key a few times to make it move. If that doesn’t work, you may need to use a key extraction tool.

Apply a lubricant

If you find yourself stuck with a car key that won’t go into the ignition, there’s a good chance that your key is just jammed. In most cases, this can be solved by applying a lubricant to the key and the ignition. Lubricants can help to free up the key and allow it to turn easily.

Pry up on the release lever with a thin object

If you are having difficulty getting the car key out of the ignition, one potential solution is to use a thin object to pry up on the release lever. Try inserting a thin screwdriver or similar object into the crevice next to the lever and pushing up. This should loosen the lever and allow you to remove the key.

Put your car in Park and turn off the engine

1. Locate the car key. It will be on a key chain or hanging from the ignition switch.
2. Turn off the engine and remove the key from the ignition switch by removing the key ring or breaking off the key.
3. Pry open the door using a flat-head screwdriver or other similar object, and reach into the ignition slot and grab hold of the car key with your fingers.
4. twist and pull out the car key while holding onto it with your fingers. Be sure to keep your hand close to the steering wheel in case you fall off!

Open the door and reach in to grab the key

1.If the car is in park, use your left arm and reach around the steering wheel to open the door from the inside. If your car is in gear, you will need to use your right arm and reach around the wheel.
2.Open the door as far as it will go and grab hold of the key with your hand, fingers pointing towards the sky.
3.Pull sharply on the key and twist it back and forth a few times until it pops out of the ignition.
4.If you have trouble getting the key out, try using a flat head screwdriver or a knife to pry at one end of it while pulling from the other side.
