1. Change your oil every 3,000 miles or every 7 months, whichever comes first. Use a quality motor oil that meets the viscosity requirement of your vehicle’s engine. Synthetic oils are also available and may be preferable for some vehicles.

2. Check your air filter at least once a month or when the indicator light on your dashboard starts flashing. Replace it if it shows signs of wear or if the filter can no longer be compressed by hand. If the air filter isn’t replaced, dirty air will enter the engine and cause problems such as reduced fuel economy and poor performance.

3. Inspect your spark plugs every 6 months or when the indicator light on your dashboard starts flashing. Replace them if they show signs of wear or if they won’t fire when you try to start the engine.
