When it comes to babies, there’s no one more important than their mum. But with so many different types of baby gear out there – from car seats to strollers – it can be hard to know which one to choose and how to put it all together. This guide will teach you how to put Graco car seats back together after washing, so that you can get your little one safely out of the car and into their new home. It’s easy enough for anyone to follow, so don’t worry – even a first-time mechanic will be able to put Graco car seats back together after washing.
Locate the Graco Car Seat
If you have a Graco car seat, it’s important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions for safely putting it back together. Here are four steps for reassembling your Graco car seat:
1. Remove the harness from the car seat and secure it in a safe place.
2. Unfasten and remove the shoulder strap from the car seat.
3. Remove the fabric cover from the base of the car seat.
4. Firmly press down on both sides of the cushion to release it from its slots on either side of the base and lift off the cover.
Remove the Buckle
If you have a Graco car seat, there is a buckle on the back that you need to remove before putting it back together. Here’s how:
1. Make sure your car seat is buckled in the correct direction. The front of the car seat should be facing forward, and the straps should go over your child’s shoulder and across their chest.
2. Find the buckle on the back of the car seat. It will look like two circles connected by a bar.
3. Push down on one circle until it pops out of the other circle.
4. Take the two circles apart so that you have a bar with two holes in it.
5. Insert one end of the bar into one of the holes in one circle, and pull up on it until it comes out of the other hole.
6. Put the second circle overtop of this first circle, and push down on both circles until they snap together again (you may need to wiggle them around a bit).
7. Put the buckle back into place, and make sure everything is situated correctly before tightening any straps
Open the Side Wings
If you have a Graco car seat, one of the best ways to keep it in good condition is to open and clean the side wings every time you wash it. This will help prevent build-up of dirt, dust, and other allergens that may cause your child’s symptoms if they are allergic to them. Simply remove the four wing screws, slide the wings out of the way, and wash them with your regular laundry detergent in cold water. Put them back together the same way and you’re done!
Lift the Rear Frame
If your child is over 6 months old and using a rear-facing car seat, it’s important to remember to lift the rear frame every time you wash it. This will prevent the seat from becoming entangled in the drain or sticking to the washer while it spins.
Position the Seat in its Base
To position the Graco seat in its base, follow these steps:
1. Open the front of the car seat and remove the retaining clips.
2. Position the center of the seat above the vehicle’s rear quarter panel.
3. Align the two attachment straps on either side of the car seat with slots on each side of the car.
4. Push down on both ends of each strap to secure it in place.
5. Close up the front of the car seat and reattach retaining clips
Close the Wings and Buckle
If your Graco car seat has been washed, it’s time to close the wings and buckle the seat belt. Here’s how:
1. Close the wing closest to you.
2. Put your shoulder against the front of the seat and pull up on the wing to close it.
3. Make sure the latch is properly closed, then tighten the wing nut using a wrench if necessary.
4. Buckle your child in using the safety belt system, making sure their head is facing forward and away from you.
