How To Put Power Steering Pulley On

Have you ever had to replace the power steering pulley on your car, and found that it’s a bit of a pain to do? Me too! In this article, I’ll show you how to put the power steering pulley on your car in a simple and easy way.

Identification of the Part

If you’re looking to put a power steering pulley on your car, there are a few things that you’ll need to know first. In this article, we’ll discuss the different parts of a power steering pulley and what they do.

Power steering pulleys are typically made of steel and have four or six spokes. They’re used to turn the power steering pump, which is located below the car in the engine compartment. Pulleys can get clogged with debris over time, which can cause your car to have trouble turning. If this happens, it’s important to take your car in for servicing so that the power steering pump can be replaced.

Removal of the Old Pulley

When installing a new power steering pulley, it is important to remove the old one. To do this, you will need a wrench, ratchet, and a socket. First, loosen the bolt that secures the power steering pump to the engine. Then, use the wrench to remove the bolt from the pulley. Next, use the ratchet to turn the pulley until it comes off of the shaft. Finally, use the socket to remove the bolt from the pulley.

Installation of the New Pulley

If you have a 2004-2008 Ford F-150, 2009-2014 Ford F-250, or 2010-2014 Ford F-350 and are experiencing problems with your power steering, it is likely that the pulley is worn out and needs to be replaced. The installation of a new pulley is not difficult, but there are a few things that need to be taken into account before beginning.

First, it is important to make sure that the power steering system is completely drained of fluid. Next, remove the front bumper cover by undoing the four Phillips screws located in the corners. Next, remove the two screws located on either side of the air intake and remove the intake panel. Finally, remove the three screws located below the lower grille and pull off the lower grille.

Once all of the hardware has been removed from the vehicle, it is time to begin the installation process. First, locate and identify the old pulley. It will likely be stamped with a “P” or “S” logo on one side. Once you have found this stamping, use a line level to measure from this stamping to where the new pulley will be installed. This measurement should be marked

Warning!

If you have never done this before, be very careful when putting the pulley on. You can damage your car if you are not careful.

2) Remove the wheel.
3) Disconnect the battery cable.
4) Locate the power steering pulley on the front of the car (it will be behind the wheel).
5) Loosen the bolt that holds it on, then remove it.
6) Reattach the new pulley by tightening the bolt that was removed in step 5.
7) Reconnect the battery cable and re-attach the wheel.
8) Drive your car to where you want it to go!

Putting Power Steering Pulley Back on

If you have ever had to remove or replace a power steering pulley, you know it can be a pain. Here are some tips on how to do it easily and without any drama.

First, make sure the car is not in gear. Next, remove the belt by unhooking it from the idler pulley. Next, take off the screw that holds the hub on the end of the shaft. Now you can gently pull the pulley off of the shaft. If it is difficult to remove, you may need to use a wrench to twist it off. Make sure to put the new pulley back on in the same way as it came off- with the screw and hub attached. Finally, reinstall the belt by rehooking it to the idler pulley and screw on the hub.
