How To Remove Fence Post With Car Jack

If you’ve ever had to remove a fence post from your car with a jack, then you know it can be a tricky and time-consuming process. In this article, we’ll show you a simple and effective way to do it using just a carjack and some leverage.

Locate the post

The first step to removing a fence post with a car jack is locating the post. Position the car jack so that the wheel is resting on the top of the post and the Jack is resting on the ground.

Next, use your body weight to apply pressure to the Jack in order to push down on the post. Keep applying pressure until the post pops free from the ground.

Remove the bolt

First, if the fence is not on a post, then remove the bolt with a socket or a wrench. If the fence is on a post, remove the bolt with the car jack.

1) Park the car so that the front of the bumper is touching the fence and turn off the ignition.
2) Lower the car jack to its lowest position. The height of the car jack should be enough to clear the tire and allow you to reach all four bolts.
3) Drive your vehicle forward until it bumps into the fence. This will cause vibration that can loosen one of the bolts.
4) Loosen each bolt in turn with a socket or wrench, being careful not to overtighten it. Once all four bolts are loose, lift off the fence post.

Pry off the plastic cap

1. Park as close to the fence post as possible, with the car facing away from the post.
2. Lift up the bottom of the car jack so that it’s at a 45-degree angle from the ground.
3. Line up the post with the car jack and hold it steady.
4. Pry off the plastic cap with a screwdriver or a knife.
5. Disconnect the cable from the post.
6. Unplug the post from the power source (if there is one).
7. Grab onto the top of the post, and pull it away from the fence.
8. Clean up any debris left behind, and replace the post cover if necessary.

Remove the wire guard

If you have a car jack, you can use it to remove the fence post. Make sure the car jack is heavy enough to do the job and that the wire guard is not attached to the post.

1. Position the car jack over the fence post and make sure the wire guard isn’t touching either of the posts.
2. Put your weight on the car jack and push down on it until the fence post pops out.
3. If there’s an attached wire guard, pull it off of the post.

Remove the shoes

First, remove the shoes. This will help you to grip the post better.

Next, place the car jack under the fence post and push it up until it clicks into place. Make sure the weight is evenly distributed across the jack and the post.

Now, use your feet to push and pull on the post while simultaneously wiggling the car jack handle up and down. Be patient – this may take a few tries to get it right.

When you finally free the post, be careful not to damage it or your car.

Disconnect the battery cable

Remove the three nuts and bolts holding the fence post to the ground
Get a sockets wrench and remove the three screws holding the post to the base
Take off the post
Use a wire brush or a piece of wire cut to size to remove rust or paint from the post
Spray a coat of primer onto the post and screw it back on to the base
Use a wood screws and screw it into place

Lift up post

1. Park your car on an elevated surface, such as a driveway or a curb.
2. Open the trunk and remove the jack and the extension cable.
3. Hook the jack up to the post, making sure the handle is pointing towards the ground.
4. Start the engine and wait until the car starts to move.
5. Drive forward slowly until you feel resistance from the post; then push harder and lift up the post.
6. Carefully lower the post back down to its original location and disconnect the jack from the post.

Remove fence post

If you need to remove a fence post from ground, it is possible to use a car jack. The height of the post should be measured before starting, and the car jack should then be positioned accordingly. Make sure to use a sturdy jack stand to keep the vehicle stable while working.
