If you’re having trouble removing a pulley on your power steering pump, follow these steps:
1) Locate the Allen wrench that came with your power steering pump. It should have a hexagonal head.
2) Loosen the bolt that secures the pulley to the pump shaft.
3) Remove the pulley.
Identification of Pulley
The pulley that is located on the power steering pump is often a source of trouble. If it’s not functioning correctly or if it’s worn out, the pump may not be able to provide the engine with the needed amount of power. In order to remove the pulley, you’ll need to first identify where it is located on the pump. Once you’ve located it, follow these steps:
1. Disconnect the power supply to the pump by turning off the breaker that’s located near the pump.
2. Remove the pulley by unscrewing it from the shaft. Be careful not to twist or damage the shaft while you’re removing it.
3. Inspect the pulley for wear and tear. If it’s damaged, replace it with a new one.

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the ignition and remove the battery.
3. Remove the air intake hose from the engine.
4. Loosen the bolt that holds the power steering pump bracket to the frame (this is typically located behind the front passenger tire).
5. Using a socket wrench, remove the bolts that secure the pulley to the belt.
6. Carefully pull the pulley off of the belt and set it aside in a safe place.
7. Replace the belt by threading it onto the new pulley and tightening the bolts to secure it in place.
