4. Clean any dirt or debris off of the circuit board and replace it in the stereo. Reattach the screws and turn the stereo back over.

Lift off the circuit board

The first step is to get access to the circuit board. There are a few ways to do this, depending on your car model.

Some models have a cover that can be removed easily. Others have screws that need to be removed. Still others have panels that can be pulled off.

Once you access the circuit board, you will need to remove the battery and the antenna. Depending on your car model, there may also be a reset button located on the circuit board. If not, you can find instructions online or in the owner’s manual.

After you have removed all of the relevant components, it is time to begin the reset process. The first thing you will need is a voltmeter. You can find one at most electronics stores or hardware stores. Next, connect the voltmeter to one of the clean terminals on the circuit board and ground it with a wire connected to another clean terminal on the circuit board. Now turn on the car and watch as the voltage decreases until it reaches zero (or close to it). Once it reaches zero, turn off the car and disconnect the voltmeter from the circuit board.
