What You Need to Know

In order to start the car engine, you will need to have the engine key, access to a mechanic or an auto parts store, and a bucket of gasoline.

2. Pull up on the emergency brake handle and wait for the warning light on the dashboard to stop flashing.
3. Turn the key all the way to “off” and remove it from the ignition switch.
4. Open the fuel tank cap and pour gasoline into the fuel filler pipe in front of the carburetor (or directly into the carburetor if your car has one). Make sure that there is at least 3 inches of gas in each jug or can. You can also use a funnel if needed.
5. Close the fuel tank cap, put on your safety gloves, and insert your arm through either side of the fuel filler pipe opening in order to hold on while starting up your engine. Make sure that your other hand is on top of or near the emergency brake handle
