Car seats are one of the most important pieces of safety equipment a parent can have. Not only do they protect your child in the event of an accident, but they’re also essential for keeping them safe while they’re in the car. In order to install or remove a car seat base, you will need to first remove the old one. Here are a few tips on how to do just that:
What you need
If your car seat base is not clipped in properly, it can be difficult to remove. There are two clips on either side of the seat, and you need to press down on them and pull up on the seat to release it.
Once the seat is free, you can tip it forward or backward to get it out from under the car. Be careful not to touch any sharp edges on the clip, or you could cut yourself.
How to remove the car seat base
The car seat base can be a bit of a pain to remove from your car. You may need to use a tool or struggle with it. Here are four ways to remove the car seat base:
1. Use a screwdriver: If you have a screwdriver, you can use it to unscrew the screws that hold the car seat base in place. Be careful not to scratch the paint on your car!
2. Use a wrench: If you have a wrench, you can use it to unscrew the screws that hold the car seat base in place. Again, be careful not to scratch the paint on your car!
3. Use pliers: If you don’t have either of those tools, you can try using pliers to grip onto one end of the clip and pull it out of the other end. Be sure to use caution not to damage your car’s paint!
4. Use a tool called an armrest remover: This is a small, handheld tool that looks like an extension cord with two prongs on one end and a Velcro strap on the other end. It’s used to remove armrests from cars. Just put one end of the tool over the top of the clip and tighten the strap so that it pulls tight against the clip. Then twist off the clip easily!
The steps
To take car seat base out of car:
1. Open the door of the car and get into the passenger seat.
2. Slide your arm under the car seat to support it while you remove the base from the car.
3. Lift up on the base and pull it out of the car.
4. Close the door to keep any dust or dirt inside the car and store the base away from direct sunlight or heat – it can also be stored in a garage or storage space if needed.
Tips for safe removal
If your child’s car seat base is not removable, follow these tips to safely remove it from your vehicle:
1. Locate the release buttons. There are usually two small buttons on each side of the car seat base. Push them in together to release the seat from its mounting brackets.
2. Gently pull the car seat out of its mounting bracket. Be sure to support the weight of the car seat as you remove it from the bracket.
3. Disconnect the harness connector and free the canopy from its webbing connection.
4. Pull off the rubberized fabric cover that covers the CARBON FIBER FRAME (if present).
5. If necessary, use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove screws from around car seat base edge – these will allow you to lift off bottom ofcar seat base easily if needed in future.
