Remove the Graco Car Seat from the Base
How to remove a Graco car seat from the base:
1. Locate the release button on the back of the car seat and push it down until it clicks into place. The catch should also release, allowing you to lift the seat off its base.
2. If your car has a large enough trunk, you can place the car seat in there and remove the strap(s) that hold it in place. Otherwise, use one hand to hold onto either side of the car seat while you pull up on the latch with your other hand.
3. Graco recommends that you store your car seat in a safe area out of reach of children so that it does not get lost or damaged.
Check to see if the Clip is Detached from the Base
If you are ever stuck without a way to unhook your Graco car seat from the base, there are a few things you can try. The first thing you can do is look for a clip that attaches the seat to the base. If you don’t find one, or if the clip is broken, you can try to pry the seat off of the base with a screwdriver or other tool. If that doesn’t work, you may need to remove the entire base unit.
If so, Remove the Clip and Replace it with a New One
If your Graco car seat is not securely attached to the base, it can be difficult to remove. Follow these steps:
1. Locate the clip that attaches the car seat to the base. It is typically on one of the corners or sides of the car seat.
2. Pry off the clip with a flathead screwdriver, using gentle pressure and a twisting motion. Be careful not to scratch the car seat or base.
3. Replace the clip with a new one, ensuring that it is snugly fit into its socket on the base.
Reattach the Seat to the Base
If your Graco car seat has been disconnected from the base, follow these steps to reconnect:
1. Remove the infant restraint by unbuckling and unzipping it.
2. Reattach the infant restraint to the base using the four clips on each side of the restraint.
3. Push up on each clip until it clicks into place.
4. Tighten the screws on each side of the restraint using a Phillips screwdriver.
5. Replace the cover over the infant restraint and buckle it in place using the two straps on each side of the restraint.
Test for Secure Fit
It is important to test the secure fit of your car seat before you remove it from its base. You can do this by fastening the car seat into the base, and then pulling up on the straps. If the car seat moves more than an inch or two, it is not securely fastened to the base. If this is the case, you will need to untie the straps and re-fasten them in a more secure location.
